At The Tone, Daylight Time Will Be…

Time to turn the clocks, not redemptively back, but assaultively forward.  Just when the light started making my alarm clock irrelevant for the first time in months.  Admittedly, I always thought it was neat that 4th of July fireworks didn’t start until the decadent hour of 10pm, but that was before Old Age came along.  These days, Daylight Time seems both an annoyance and a hoax.  Maybe I should move to Phoenix, like the rest of the cocktailhags did long ago, and miss out on this tomfoolery.

    Exactly!

It does give me an excuse to go to bed even earlier, though… “Sheesh! It’s already 9:30?”

I won’t feel it until tomorrow morning. I always hated DST because when the kids were little, they wouldn’t go to bed since it was still so light out at 9:30 PM. Now, it’s not as big a nuisance.

O/T – Obama will be in Strongsville, OH tomorrow for a townhall. Strongsville is a southwest suburb of Cleveland, but more than that, a really RED district. It is also now infamously noted for being the site of the most bizarre and telling video of the Palin fans during a McCain/Palin rally taken by a Cleveland blogger:

We still shake our heads in disbelief and embarrassment at that video. I suppose if I was going to be a snob (heh), I’d tell you that Strongsville is only a few years ahead of being nothing but a hayseed cow town where 60% of the kids didn’t even graduate from high school and 90% of its tax base was industry. Now, with nouveaux riche development and a big (now abandoned) mall, it survives as a conservative-rich demographic full of morons. I have NO idea why Obama is going there. He’s nuts.

Great video. I especially liked the cuckoo blonde lady with the nasal midwest accent who kept jumping in front of the camera. What a bunch of ignoramuses. You’re right, Obama is nuts.

Thanks, Retizilian, for that link. I saw that back when but had forgotten about it (which is a blessing–every day must be a new day or I’d simply go crazy[ier]).

About the clock change, I’d forgotten about that, too, and was sitting here when I noticed the time and thought, “Man, I’ve been here longer than I realized.”

Also agree with the 4th of July fireworks issue–nowadays, it interferes with my beauty sleep and twisted dreams of Maureen Dowd’s pout.

Fortunately, I can see the fireworks from the veranda here at CHNN, and can thus watch them in cold cream and curlers. They aren’t very interesting, you know, until the finale, when they always do a Dick Cheney “shoot everything that moves” thingy. They also have them for Rose Festival, Cinco de Mayo, Blues Festival, and on and on, some of which are REALLY lame, and I always feel sorry for the people that schlepped down there to see them.
