“NO MORE BUSHES,” said Barbara Bush

Brings to mind a lyric by B.B. King:

“Nobody loves me but my mother; and she could be jivin’ too.”

~ ~ ~

More blues from W, the imaginary blues man:

“If you see my mama

Tell her good-bye for me

If you see my mama

Tell her good-bye for me

I’m tired of livin’

Livin’ in misery

- Going To The River

- Fats Domino

This reminds me of the comedian who talks about men not getting the signals from women and they have to use semaphore flags to spell out “I HATE YOU!”

Ann Richards and Molly Ivins were on to something a long time ago. No coddling mommies here; they had none of it.

  2. dirigo says:

    Oh boy.

This just in: Sandra Day O’Connor on Bush v. Gore …

“It (the U.S. Supreme Court) took the case and decided it at a time when it was still a big election issue. Maybe the court should have said ‘We’re not going to take it. Goodbye.’ ”

O’Connor spoke on Friday to the Chicago Tribune editorial board.

    From the paper’s report:

“‘The case,’ she said, ‘stirred up the public’ and ‘gave the court a less-than-perfect reputation.’

‘Obviously the court did reach a decision and thought it had to reach a decision,’ she said. ‘It turned out the election authorities in Florida hadn’t done a real good job there and kind of messed it up. And probably the Supreme Court added to the problem at the end of the day.’”

Just a few sloppy omelets, sprinkled with chads.

And a reminder, for those of you keeping score at home: O’Connor cast the deciding vote in the 5-4 decision in favor of W’s royal claims.

    • RUKidding says:

Teri Gross recently interviewed O’Connor on her radio program. O’Connor kept things very very very close to her vest when Gross probed her – oh so delicately – about various decisions, esp Bush v. Gore.

I’ve worked in the US court system on & off for years. Judges can metaphorically put on that black robe & use it to intimidate the proles, such as Gross, in order to get them to STFU and back off.

O’Connor bobbed & weaved like the pro she is. She wasn’t gonna give away anything on “Fresh Air.” It appears, in this quote, that O’Connor was a TAD more honest, which ain’t saying much.

It’s all a buncha b.s. O’Connor *appears* to have some sort of “moral center” (for lack of better terminology). Hope she has some difficulty sleeping at night… she should. HUGE sell out & part & parcel of the relatively bloodless (at that moment) coup d’etat by BushCo.

  3. cocktailhag says:

The B.B King quote is the best ever. But she’s never much jived about the fact that li’l Dubya was the runtiest of a six runt litter. She’s the only honest one in the bunch, not that I mean that as a compliment.

  4. RUKidding says:

I surely won’t praise Babs – I won’t waste my beautiful mind on that – Bush for saying this. She’s a huge part of the BushCo problem and just as complicit as any other member of the 1%.

Maybe she’s just fed up with the lime-light that her doofus kids end up in. Too bad for Babs… you spawned ‘em, rhymes with rich. Now deal with the consequences. Oh yeah, right, the ever-so-rich don’t have to deal with trifling piffles like consequences, now do they??

Helps that they’ve ripped you & me off so much that they go retire to their gated enclaves in an effort to ignore the tedious riff-raff who spoil their view (of themselves & otherwise).

  5. mikeinportc says:

What I heard ~= ” We’ve suffered enough at the hand of you unthankful ingrates, even though we’ve done so much for you. No more! You’re not getting Jeb too. You don’t deserve it. “

    • RUKidding says:

Entirely possible. Certainly from Babs’ entitled 1% perspective, that would make sense. Kind of how RMoney’s entitled wife (thankfully I forget her name! the blessings of older age!!) condescendingly talking about “those people.”

These shitheads really believe in their own hype, don’t they?

For more “local color” on Boston, check out some recent clips from Lawrence O’Donnell on Billy Bulger, and the Haitian-American woman who just won a primary to compete for Bulger’s old (white) Southie state senate seat.
