I became a glass half full guy when I was trying to figure out in my childhood living with a mentally ill, bipolar mother how I could be such a delight one moment and the dirty devil the next. Deep down I believed my mother loved me. I wanted to find a way to accept [...]

Joe Wilson’s political opponent Rob Miller in the 2008 election and facing him again in 2010 has so far raised $700,000 to defeat Wilson thanks to the “You lie!” outburst. Wilson has raised $200,000 as of Friday morning from those who support what he claims was an emotional outburst. The outburst may have been strictly [...]

I think Klein’s evolution in the past couple of years has been admirable. After getting beaten up for being Crazy Pete’s sock puppet on FISA he began to be a little more critical, and he’s done a real service in pushing back on the neocons’ charges of anti-Semitism. By virtue of his standing in the [...]

(Just after posting this I learned that Digby substituting today for Glenn Greenwald has written about this same issue. She is looking at, “The bad apple approach doesn’t solve the political, legal or moral problems. Indeed, that seems so clear that you have to wonder if this isn’t being done to serve some other purpose.” [...]

Yesterday, the Hag was driven to drink because the Repugs, “In just a few weeks they have cemented in the media and the public consciousness the astoundingly ironic notion that racism is now something only those self-evidently inferior brown people still cling to and must publicly renounce; we superior whites having left that old thing [...]

I just can’t buy the elephant as a symbol for the Republican party. The Democratic donkey seems appropriate because members do make an asses out of themselves more than they should and many cling stubbornly to their issue regardless of whether it has any chance of becoming a reality. What the Repug character, not true [...]
